WORLD:  Georgian Shame, a Year Later

Updated: 08/07 17:51 Russia/Georgia War Tbilisi, Georgia

It has been a year since Georgia embarrassed herself by attacking South Ossetia and tensions have not eased.  Against all logic, Georgia insists that Russia was the aggressor and that Georgia is innocent in the war.  Of course, aside from those that hate Russia, few are of same opinion.

Hundreds died during the five-day war, with the grief still evident one year on. It began when Georgia tried to retake control of South Ossetia following clashes, but was repelled by Russia.

With Saakashvili in power, Georgia has little hope to enter the modern world.  Her hate for Russia blinds her to the truth, and even the USA has refused to fully support her since this incursion.

Russia Today has a nice piece on this:

WORLD:  Amerika Ignores Ukrainian People's Will, Enforcing Amerikan Interests Instead

Updated: 07/21 21:45 Joe Biden and Viktor Yuschenko Kiev, Ukraine

More proof that nothing has changed in Amerika's administration, Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Ukraine further encourages Ukraine to join NATO, going against the will of the Ukrainian people.  This is not new, George Bush has been preaching the same for years.  President Obama has been preaching change, yet nothing seems to change.

With the USA trying to warm to Russia, Ukraine feels ignored.  Joe Biden has been sent to reassure the failed Ukrainian administration that Amerika's puppet will not be completely forgotten.

Vice President Joe Biden reassured Ukraine on Tuesday of US support for its right to join NATO and promised a "reset" of Washington's relations with Moscow would not undermine warm ties with Kiev.

Speaking after a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, Biden said President Barack Obama wanted to repair damaged US-Russia relations but would not allow the Kremlin to dictate Ukraine's relationship with NATO.

Why does Amerika feel that the will of the people should be ignored, instead imposing the will of the Amerikan administration?  This has been the policy of George Bush and all previous administrations in the 20th century.  Amerika must learn to respect the people of a nation first, then impose its will when it coincides with at least half the population.

WORLD:  Six Miners Killed and Seven Missing in Donetsk Blast

Updated: 06/09 15:37 Donetsk Miner Donetsk, Ukraine

Another tragedy in Ukraine as six miners die in a mine shaft blast.  It is time for the Oligarchs of Ukraine making billions on mine production to strive for safety of their workers.  Unfortunately, this will never happen under current Ukrainian administration.

The accident that occurred in a Donetsk mine on June 8 left six miners dead and seven others are still missing, Ukraine's Inter television reported on Tuesday.

Rescue teams raised bodies of another three miners to the surface in the early hours of Tuesday. Thirty-six miners are hospitalized, and two of them are in a serious condition.

The explosion took place at the Skochynsky mine owned by the state-run enterprise Donetsk Coal Energy Company at 10:15 a.m. on June 8. The explosion was caused by a coal and gas emission (a gasdynamic event). According to the Ukrainian authorities, there were 51 miners in the area at the time the accident occurred. A total of 344 miners were in the mine at the time of the blast.

38 miners were brought to the surface safely. Rescuers found the bodies of three miners on Monday.

A meeting of the governmental investigatory commission lead by Coal Industry Minister Viktor Poltavets will start at 1000 at the coalmine.

WORLD:  Mikhail Gorbachev Calls for Global Perestroika

Updated: 06/07 20:40 Mikhail Gorbachev Washington Dc, USA

Mikhail Gobachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union's communist party, has called for Global Perestroika, arguing that West's current economic policies are unsustainable.  He says, "that the new Western model was an illusion that benefited chiefly the very rich."  This is hard to argue, but interesting that his letter to Washington Post so difficult to find online.  News sites are hardly mentioning it.  Strange, considering how controversial the text is.

The Washington Post has the full text of Mikhail Gorbachev's call for Global Perestroika.  To make it easier to find, I copy it below as well.

We Had Our Perestroika. It's High Time for Yours.

Years ago, as the Cold War was coming to an end, I said to my fellow leaders around the globe: The world is on the cusp of great events, and in the face of new challenges all of us will have to change, you as well as we. For the most part, the reaction was polite but skeptical silence.

In recent years, however, during speaking tours in the United States before university audiences and business groups, I have often told listeners that I feel Americans need their own change -- a perestroika, not like the one in my country, but an American perestroika -- and the reaction has been markedly different. Halls filled with thousands of people have responded with applause.

Over time, my remark has prompted all kinds of comments. Some have reacted with understanding. Others have objected, sometimes sarcastically, suggesting that I want the United States to experience upheaval, just like the former Soviet Union. In my country, particularly caustic reactions have come from the opponents of perestroika, people with short memories and a deficit of conscience. And although most of my critics surely understand that I am not equating the United States with the Soviet Union in its final years, I would like to explain my position.

Our perestroika signaled the need for change in the Soviet Union, but it was not meant to suggest a capitulation to the U.S. model. Today, the need for a more far-reaching perestroika -- one for America and the world -- has become clearer than ever.

It is true that the need for change in the Soviet Union in the mid-1980s was urgent. The country was stifled by a lack of freedom, and the people -- particularly the educated class -- wanted to break the stranglehold of a system that had been built under Stalin. Millions of people were saying: "We can no longer live like this."

We started with glasnost -- giving people a chance to speak out about their worries without fear. I never agreed with my great countryman Alexander Solzhenitsyn when he said that "Gorbachev's glasnost ruined everything." Without glasnost, no changes would have occurred, and Solzhenitsyn would have ended his days in Vermont rather than in Russia.

At first, we labored under the illusion that revamping the existing system -- changes within the "socialist model" -- would suffice. But the pushback from the Communist Party and the government bureaucracy was too strong. Toward the end of 1986, it became clear to me and my supporters that nothing less than the replacement of the system's building blocks was needed.

We opted for free elections, political pluralism, freedom of religion and an economy with competition and private property. We sought to effect these changes in an evolutionary way and without bloodshed. We made mistakes. Important decisions were made too late, and we were unable to complete our perestroika.

Two conspiracies hijacked the changes -- the attempted coup in August 1991, organized by the hard-line opponents of our reforms, which ended up weakening my position as president, and the subsequent agreement among the leaders of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus to dissolve the Union. Russia's leaders then rejected the evolutionary path, plunging the country into chaos.

Nevertheless, when I am asked whether perestroika succeeded or was defeated, I reply: Perestroika won, because it brought the country to a point from which there could be no return to the past.

In the West, the breakup of the Soviet Union was viewed as a total victory that proved that the West did not need to change. Western leaders were convinced that they were at the helm of the right system and of a well-functioning, almost perfect economic model. Scholars opined that history had ended. The "Washington Consensus," the dogma of free markets, deregulation and balanced budgets at any cost, was force-fed to the rest of the world.

But then came the economic crisis of 2008 and 2009, and it became clear that the new Western model was an illusion that benefited chiefly the very rich. Statistics show that the poor and the middle class saw little or no benefit from the economic growth of the past decades.

The current global crisis demonstrates that the leaders of major powers, particularly the United States, had missed the signals that called for a perestroika. The result is a crisis that is not just financial and economic. It is political, too.

The model that emerged during the final decades of the 20th century has turned out to be unsustainable. It was based on a drive for super-profits and hyper-consumption for a few, on unrestrained exploitation of resources and on social and environmental irresponsibility.

But if all the proposed solutions and action now come down to a mere rebranding of the old system, we are bound to see another, perhaps even greater upheaval down the road. The current model does not need adjusting; it needs replacing. I have no ready-made prescriptions. But I am convinced that a new model will emerge, one that will emphasize public needs and public goods, such as a cleaner environment, well-functioning infrastructure and public transportation, sound education and health systems and affordable housing.

Elements of such a model already exist in some countries. Having rejected the tutorials of the International Monetary Fund, countries such as Malaysia and Brazil have achieved impressive rates of economic growth. China and India have pulled hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. By mobilizing state resources, France has built a system of high-speed railways, while Canada provides free health care. Among the new democracies, Slovenia and Slovakia have been able to mitigate the social consequences of market reforms.

The time has come for "creative construction," for striking the right balance between the government and the market, for integrating social and environmental factors and demilitarizing the economy.

Washington will have to play a special role in this new perestroika, not just because the United States wields great economic, political and military power in today's global world, but because America was the main architect, and America's elite the main beneficiary, of the current world economic model. That model is now cracking and will, sooner or later, be replaced. That will be a complex and painful process for everyone, including the United States.

However different the problems that the Soviet Union confronted during our perestroika and the challenges now facing the United States, the need for new thinking makes these two eras similar. In our time, we faced up to the main tasks of putting an end to the division of the world, winding down the nuclear arms race and defusing conflicts. We will cope with the new global challenges as well, but only if everyone understands the need for real, cardinal change -- for a global perestroika

Mikhail Gorbachev, the last general secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, heads the International Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies, a Moscow-based think tank.

WORLD:  International auditors to probe Ukraine's central bank amid accusations of mismanagement

Updated: 05/28 16:59 National Bank of Ukraine Kiev, Ukraine

LA Times

International auditors will probe the actions of Ukraine's central bank during the ongoing financial crisis in an effort to counter accusations of mismanagement and corruption at the bank, a bank official said Wednesday.

Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has accused National Bank chief Volodymyr Stelmakh of conducting murky currency and lending procedures and auctions that caused the Ukrainian currency, the hryvna, to collapse.

She alleged the financial regulator was selling foreign currency at lower rates and providing financial assistance to friendly banks for kickbacks.

Tymoshenko led a nonbinding vote in parliament last year urging her rival President Viktor Yushchenko to fire Stelmakh, but he has kept his job.

Vasiliy Pasichnyk of the bank's department for banking regulation and oversight told the Associated Press that Ernst & Young had begun an audit of the bank's actions since the crisis hit last fall. Ernst & Young declined to comment citing company policy.
The banking sector has been shaken by a run on banks and a high number of bad loans, as consumers default on mortgages and car loans taken in foreign currencies that have nearly doubled with the hryvna's collapse.

The government is relying on a $16.4 billion rescue loan from the International Monetary Fund to recapitalize the country's top banks.

The hryvna has lost about 38 percent of its value to the dollar since last September. On Wednesday, it traded at 7.7 hryvna to the dollar on the foreign currency exchange.

WORLD:  Georgian Administration Furious After Military Coup

Updated: 05/24 11:08 Georgian Protests Tbilisi, Georgia

After a military coup in Georgia several weeks ago, the Georgian Administration have done everything in their power to silence opposition.  From illegal arrests to alleged murders, Georgia's actions are scaring most of their citizens.  While Mikhail Saakashvili suggests that Russia is behind the military coup, Nino Burdzhanadze has made suggestion that the military coup is a sign of people's unwillingness to support the corrupt regime currently in charge of Georgia.  The protests have now lasted almost 2 months, but the Saakashvili administration refuse to even discuss demands.

WORLD:  Amerika, King of Propaganda - World War 2

Updated: 05/09 18:07 Soviet Soldiers Battling Germans Moscow, Russia

After reading TIME's article, Russia Moves to Ban Criticism of WWII Win, I am not sure whether to laugh or cry.  At first, the article is funny because most ignorant Amerikans will likely believe this blatant propaganda, a sure sign of Amerika's stupidity.  However, this is the type of media propaganda that makes me cry because it is what leads Amerika to be a stupid country.

The article's premise is that Russia is currently considering passing a law to criminalize statements and acts that deny the Soviets won World War II, or claim it used poor tactics in battle or did not liberate Eastern Europe.

TIME continues to claim that this law is proposed solely because of a Television Show that portrayed Russia in poor light.

[The documentary] exposed the number of Soviet soldiers killed, which was much higher than most Russians believed — around a million compared to around 500,000 on the Nazi side — and presented a negative interpretation of Soviet tactics by, for example, showing how shocked German soldiers who had fought in the battles were at the way Soviet troops were thrown into the fight with little regard for their lives.

The article uses terminology like Orwellian and celebrating the defeat of freedom of speech in order to portray Russia as a state that controls its people's information, ignoring how hypocritical it is being to Amerika.

Let us start by acknowledging that ALL countries use propaganda to control its people.  However, when compared to Amerika, ALL countries are doves.  As for TIME's article, it completely ignores the real reason behind new law.

The reality is that currently in Russia, and especially Ukraine, there is a big push from western Russia/Ukraine for forces that fought alongside Germany.  Ukraine has actually declared many of those forces as Heroes, claiming they were fighting for Ukraine's independence.  Russia is fighting this type of propaganda, and wants to ensure that those that spread these lies are put away.  Ukraine is encouraging their pro-German forces by building statues to them.

A short history of World War 2 and Amerika's propaganda machine ...

World War 2 was a vicious war where more people died than almost all other wars before it combined.  Germany killed tens of millions of Russians, and millions more Europeans.  Germany's biggest mistake was attacking Russia before it completed her conquest of Europe.  If Adolph Hitler had waited until England had fallen, it is possible that he may have conquered Russia.  However, a war on two fronts was too much for Adolph Hitler, who fell after Russia began defeating his armies.

What is important to analyze in World War 2 are dates that events occurred.   Many acknowledge the turning point of the war to be in November of 1941, when Adolph Hitler's army was defeated before Moscow.  While Hitler's army's continued to win victories afterwards, like Stalingrad, the Russians began winning more and more victories.

Stalingrad was a major turning point in the war.  Russia began to win back Stalingrad in the winter of 1942, eventually driving out Hitler's armies.   In summer of 1943, Russia defeated Germany in battle of Kursk, capturing hundreds of thousands of Germans, demoralizing Hitler's army and turning the war around.  Well before this, however, it was known that Germany was about to fall.

Amerika likes to claim that it won World War 2.  Amerika saved Europe from Adolph Hitler, and saved Russia from destruction.  What blatant LIES!!!

Why doesn't TIME point out Amerika's propaganda?  Why not point out Amerika's lies?  Who is more Orwellian than Amerika?

Amerika's entry into World War 2 was in Italy, where Amerika only sent 20,000 troops and failed terribly.  Amerika's real entry into World War 2 was D-Day, June 6th 1944.  By this point, the war was almost over, Amerika wasn't necessary.  However, to properly rewrite history, Amerika needed at least one large battle.

Amerika's contribution to World War 2 was trivial and completely unnecessary.  Its goal was to reach Berlin before Russia, but that was only after Russia defeated all First String forces, and all Second String forces.  Amerika only battled the weakest German forces, and still poorly.  Amerika is nothing but Propaganda Machine, lying to its people and trying to deceive entire world.  Fortunately, history is already written and can not be rewritten by Amerika here.

Most intelligent Amerikans know the truth, which is good.  Universities teach the truth, which is also good.  Hopefully, more Amerikans will learn the truth and will stop believing Amerika's lies.

TIME should be ashamed of itself for printing such garbage.  Amerikan media is just a puppet for the government, so it is understood why this article was written.  When people learn to look beyond their public media and learn to think for themselves, maybe the media will change and begin printing the truth.

... we can hope!

WORLD:  Congratulations on Victory Day!   1

Updated: 05/09 16:19 Russian Military March Moscow, Russia

Today, May 9th, we remember the Russian victory over Germany.  While Victory Day is celebrated in Western Europe on May 8th, because of time zone differences Moscow and the Former Soviet States celebrate Victory Day on May 9th.

In the Eastern Bloc, the day of victory over Nazi Germany was celebrated on May 9, because when the German Instrument of Surrender actually entered into force (May 8, 1945 at 23:01 CET), it was already May 9 by Moscow Time. Some post-Soviet countries, most notably The Russian Federation, have continued the tradition. [Wikipedia]

Victory Day is a very important holiday for Russians.  Germans destroyed most of the Western Soviet front causing much suffering to Russians.  When Russia marched on Berlin, destroying the German forces, it was remembered as Russian superiority to Western power.  Amerika and Britain could not stop Germany on the Western Front facing Germany's 3rd rank forces.  Russia destroyed German forces after taking very heavy losses, driving the Germans back to Berlin and taking the city.

Amerika and Western Media lie to their people that Amerika won the war.  All historians know the truth, Amerika entered the war when Germany had almost collapsed.  All Amerika truly did was bomb Japan, but German victory is solely because of Russia.

Today in Moscow was a great parade.  For the second year in a row, Dmitry Medvedev organized a very nice parade through Red Square.  A true Russian Patriot, Dmitry Medvedev felt that a military parade would help raise the countries spirits and tech the young of Russia's glorious victory over Germany.

The parade involved 9000 Military Personnel, 103 sophisticated tracked and wheeled military vehicles, 69 aircraft and helicopters and 1100 military orchestra musicians.  This year is the first year that the military parade is held in 23 Russian cities, rather than in Moscow alone.

Russia Today has a short Highlight Video of the Parade:
